NSS College, Nilamel (Reaccredited by NAAC with a B++ grade in the 2nd Cycle of Accreditation), is one of the aided Arts and Science colleges managed by the Nair Service Society, which was founded by Bharatha Kesari Sri. Mannath Padmanabhan. Since its inception in 1964, the college has been synonymous with academic excellence, community service through extension activities, research, and best practises. The college is situated on a lovely hummock on the sprawling 34-acre campus along the M.C Road, not far from the historic Jadayu Rock (Chadayamangalam), which is mentioned in the epic The Ramayana. It offers eleven first-year programmes as well as two post-graduate programmes. The first degree programmes offered are English, Malayalam, Economics, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Bio-Chemistry, and Commerce. Post-graduate programmes in Malayalam and Commerce are available.
