Mrs A V N C HIGH SCHOOL ( Previously known as The ANGLO VERNACULAR SCHOOL) was founded in 1860.For about 36 years after its establishment it was supported by leading Zamindars of the district. In 1878 the status of the school was raised to Second grade college affiliated to Madras University .It was named as HINDU COLLEGE.
When the school was in financial crisis Late Shri A.V.NARASINGA ROW , the then Deputy collector of Visakhapatnam , in his will of 8th may 1892 bequeathed a lakh of rupees and 11 acres of land including a palatial building , besides a building fund of rupees 15,000 to establish a college in Visakhapatnam for educational needs under the designation of Mrs.Ankitam Venkata Narasinga Row's college.
The High school and college achieved remarkable progress and produced many gems in all fields who were scattered all over the world. A few of them were here.
