Government Degree College, Eluru was established in the year 2008 with an aim of providing quality education to students in and around Eluru Town. It was initially affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. With the establishment of Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram, (ANUR) affiliation of the college shifted to ANUR. Since, the inception of college B.A. (HEP), B Com(Gen), B Sc( MPC), B Sc(CBZ) are the courses offered in Telugu Medium. Keeping in view the demand and employment opportunities, B Com (C.A.), & B. A. (H.E.TT) are introduced from the academic year 2020-21. From the academic year 2021-22, all the courses are offered in English Medium.
The college is presently running in the campus of Government Junior College, Eluru and Municipal High School, Eluru, located in front of Central Jail, Eluru at Kotadibba. At present, the college utilizing classrooms and other facilities from Govt. Junior College and Municipal High School for Boys. Efforts are being made to have own building and infrastructure with the help of State Government and local donors.
